Annie Hall (1977): Pulling Out All the Stops… by Shankru_Spam_Begone, April 13, 2011

I have just witnessed this movie at a special screening and must state for the record that Mr. Allen, who is one of my favorite all time director’s, should be ashamed of himself. This film has absolutely no script, no story, no acting and no style. It is one of the most boring things that I have seen this year. And, it should be considered that this is one of the worst years for movies in the last ten.I can not believe that the man who gave us “Mean Streets”, “Taxi Driver”, “Radio Days”, and “Interiors”, wasted his time on this. Especially when he has “Broadway Danny Rose”, in the works and “Broadway Danny Rose”, does not get made.At the end of the day, after almost two hours of nonsense, we are asked to believe that these two loser characters end up together. At the screening I was out, a member of the audience said, “And they lived happily ever after.” At this point, the audience laughed hysterically. The only thing redeeming about this movie was the performance of Ving Rhames who again came through in the clutch. Unfortunately, he could not save it.

1/10 stars.
